Damascus Stainless Steel Rings

Andrew Nyce Designs uses austenitic Damascus Stainless Steel. From a ring care standpoint, austenitic stainless steel is considered corrosion-resistant and has high hardness.

Through proper care and preventative actions, you can maintain the look and feel of your Damascus Stainless Steel ring.

Surface Finish

You can easily maintain the surface finish yourself using the ring care kit provided with every ring purchased by Andrew Nyce Designs. Follow the instructions provided below:

To revitalize a matte surface finish

• Saturate an ultrafine or fine Scotch Brite pad with liquid soap and gently stroke the ring along it's circumference under a slow stream of running water. Keep the pad saturated with soap so that you are constantly providing lubricant while gently abrading the ring. A fine Scotch Brite pad is contained in the ring care kit. Scotch Brite pads also can be found at hardware stores such as Home Depot.
  
  
• In another variation, place whitening toothpaste on a Scotch Brite pad, and proceed as described above. You will obtain a matte surface finish with a slightly higher luster.
  
  

To revitalize a polished surface finish

• Use the polishing cloth supplied in your ring care kit with or without whitening toothpaste to bring back the polished luster.

For the inside finish of the ring, you can use the Scotch Brite pad method, as described above, to achieve a matte surface finish. If you prefer a semi-polished finish, use the polishing cloth provided in your ring care kit.

If the precious metal liner, edges or channel become nicked or burnished, you can use any method described above to restore the matte or polished surface finish.

Special Handling

Austenitic stainless steel is corrosion-resistant and, therefore, does not require special handling or treatment.

Platinum Channels, Liners, and Edges

Special care instructions apply to Damascus Stainless Steel rings with platinum channels, liners, or egdes. Although, platinum is very durable and scratch-resistant, rings should be removed during heavy work. If the platinum surface becomes scratched or gouged, it should be buffed and polished professionally to help retain its natural luster.
